Duo Sharon Chan and Charles Kwong
Sharon Chan and Charles Kwong are a Zurich-based transdisciplinary artist duo from Hong Kong, their collaborations draw together a constellation of artistic backgrounds that span music and sound, theatre, dramaturgy, curatorial practice, and both artistic and academic research. Their performances frequently revolve around rituals that navigate the nonhuman realm of movement, space, acoustics, feedback systems, resonant objects, a theremin, and the liminal territories that lie between these.

Walking as a Performative Inquiry
Performative Essay
This presentation is a performative inquiry into spatial memory, in which the act of walking structures the work as a continuous process of spatial and perceptual negotiation, tracing the changing relations of the body, objects, and space. Beginning with a live deconstruction of actor‘s training, orientation systems, and cultural memory, the presentation questions how the frame of a performance dictates how a body is read. Moving through a performative essay format, the presentation tests the fragile thresholds where ordinary human gesture collapses into nonhuman traces of weight and sound.

- 12 hanging omnidirectional speakers and wireless microphones in 3D-printed ceramic shells
- 12-channel generative soundscape governed by neural-network-based sound synthesis (AI sound models in feedback loops)
- Live video feedbacks (2 videos camera + 2 projectors)
- Hydrophone and insulated transducer in water
- Theremin
- Ink on paper
- The room (spatialisation, acoustics, light, curtain and window)
- Two performers
Through this project we created a space of its own life governed by numerous circular paths.
